Santa Ema’s founding Pavone family trace their history in Chile back to 1917 when they first came to the region as grape farmers. MAIPO: The Maipo Valley is firmly established as a producer of exceptional Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux varietals. Santa Ema has two primary cellars in the valley: Izaga and El Peral. The cooling influence of the Maipo River on one side and the Andes Mountains on the other extend the growing season, while the shallow, alluvial soils provide ideal conditions for the valley’s red varietals.
CACHAPOAL: Located 10 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean, the cool winds blowing through the Rapel Valley allow Carmenere and other red grapes exceptionally long hang time.
CASABLANCA: Characterized by a cold, ocean-cooled climate, white wines from this region possess a tremendous fruitiness and elegance.
LEYDA: Even cooler than Casablanca, wines of this region possess a tremendous minerality and sophistication, led by outstanding Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
